Welcome Live Steamers & Railroad Hobbyists
Plan to join your live steam friends for four days of trains, food, fellowship and fun. This is a private event for members of LALSRM and other train clubs as well as railroad hobbyists. There will be no public train rides on Sunday, May 28.
Tracks in 4 Gauges; Automated Signals
Los Angeles Live Steamers is located on 13 acres in Griffith Park, Los Angeles at 5202 Zoo Drive. We have tracks in four gauges: from Gauge-1 to 7-1/2”, 4-3/4”, and 3-1/2”. Our layout includes a fully-automated block signal system with more than 70 signals, and a 68-foot truss bridge, plus three tunnels and several other bridges.
Friday Evening Kickoff
The official start of the Spring Meet is our complimentary Friday evening Spaghetti Dinner at 6 pm, prepared by our Board of Directors. Of course, you may come earlier on Friday to unload your trains and hit the rails. After dinner enjoy a movie and a night of running and riding trains. On Saturday breakfast and lunch can be purchased in our Kountry Kitchen, and the Souvenir Table will be open all day with lots of new items, including t-shirts, sweatshirts, hats, lapel pins and more.
Special Events on Saturday include:
- Walt Disney Barn open 10:30 am to 2 pm.
- Souvenir Table open all day Saturday & Sunday.
- Kid’s Krafts with Carolyn – 10 am to 4 pm.
- President’s Auction at 1:30 pm in New Sherwood Station.
- BINGO at 3:30 pm with prizes. Free for all ages.
- BBQ Ribs & Chicken Dinner – $23/plate adults; $10/plate children 10 & under. Tickets required, available for purchase in person at the Meet, as long as supplies last.
- Movie at 7:30 pm.
Sunday and Monday: Unlimited fun on the tracks and quality time with your friends. The Souvenir Table will be open all day.
Meals at our Kountry Kitchen
Enjoy the convenience of eating a freshly-prepared meal onsite, or dining out at one of our many local restaurants.
Our Club’s Kountry Kitchen will offer: All American Breakfast ($8) on Saturday and Sunday from 7:30 to 9 am. Grilled Hamburger or Hot Dog Plate ($9) on Saturday and Sunday from 11:30 to 1:00 pm. Continental Breakfast ($5) on Monday from 7:30 to 9 am. No meal will be served Sunday evening.
Camping and Parking
RV and Tent camping available at no cost, starting at 12 noon Thursday (no hook-ups). There will be marked spaces for RV camper parking in our Members’ Parking Lot. Inside the gate, Crystal Springs Drive will be reserved for handicapped parking only; no campers. Vehicles bringing equipment may enter gates temporarily for loading and unloading. There is plenty of free parking in our Members’ Parking Lot.
44 Steaming Bays; Locomotive Requirements
LALSRM has two train yards with two turntables and 44 steaming bays, and two hydraulic lifts for easy access to our tracks. A self-check gauge for rolling stock is available next to the hydraulic lift behind the yellow Doug House. Steam Locomotives: Current boiler inspection tags, spark arrestors, ash pans required. Night operations: you must have FREDs and running/parking lights. Visiting steam locos can be hydro-tested as personnel is available. Please bring your own propane fuel, if using.
